Four men in white overalls dramatized the mounting of an installation before an audience during the opening of Altars, a collective exposition of installations held amongst the ruins of the Santo Domingo Convent in Panama City’s Old Quarter. The piece was conceived as an alter to art show inaugurations, and thereby to the norms and stereotypes that characterize them. In a very ritualized manner, the artists placed 20 life-size illustrations (mounted on cardboard) in specific points around a cordoned off space. The images were highly-stereotyped renditions of people that might attend the opening night of an art show.
